What is the difference between editing and proofreading?
Editing and proofreading are two different stages of the writing process. Editing involves revising and improving the content of a written work, including its structure, clarity, and coherence. Proofreading involves checking the written work for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting. So, while editing focuses on the overall quality of the writing, proofreading focuses on the technical accuracy of the writing.
Editing includes proofreading, but proofreading does not include editing.
What is considered substantial editing?
In case a document is written by a non-English speaker or if a customer has an initial draft, it might require more extensive editing or proofreading. As a result, the price and turnaround time may increase due to the extra time and effort needed.
